Someone Do My Work, Please

I woke up in the middle of the night last night and was instantly plagued by something I had written almost five years ago. I had been struck by a research idea that made me regret the fact that I can't do research (I've recently been chastised by a friend to refrain from my usual disclaimer of "I'm not a scientist or an engineer, but..." so I'll instead acknowledge that I'm 'Research Curious.') Personal labels and BS aside, my idea caused me to write a little summary and present it to some folks that I thought would immediately recognize my idea as brilliant, pick up the torch, solve huge problems, and make the world a better place. Ha! Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! They were not so interested.

I dust off this document from time to time and still wonder why it's not a good idea. So, here is my final attempt at salvaging this idea. I'm offering this to anyone and everyone as a potential research question. If it is successful, just hide a little thank you note somewhere in your Nobel Prize acceptance speech and send me a few shares of stock of the wildly successful spin-out that you launch.
