Open Positions in Neurotech

Hiring in a COVID-19 World

The introduction of COVID-19 into the world has forced labs to take a sabbatical, promising start-ups to furlough or lay off massively qualified, talented people, and individuals are facing uncertain times.

In an effort to keep research moving and to support our friends and colleagues, I encourage employers and job seekers to post your needs and to be creative about how you work together! Remote positions consulting work, contract-to-hire, what kind of flexibility can you offer.

With that in mind, I'd like to encourage employers and individuals to post their needs here and to be open to new and unique work arrangements.

Special Funding Opportunities to Help You Keep Your Employees

The Small Business Administration has programs that can help you maintain operations and keep your employees during this strange new world. Anything that you can do to keep the team you've worked so hard to develop will be the key to your continued success after we emerge from this beast.

Payroll Protection Program (PPP) - a forgivable loan to companies that maintain its employees (including yourself). It could cover up to two months of your entire company payroll and office rent. Not only are the loans forgivable, but the forgiven portion of the loan will be tax free.

Small Business Administration Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) - this is a streamlined loan program administered through the SBA, whereby you can obtain a business loan at a lower-than-normal interest rates (be sure to check current rates). With the EIDL the first $10,000 received acts as a grant rather than a loan and it is supposed to be distributed within three days of applying.

Donate Sick/Vacation Days - this is an innovative program at the University of Florida that allows employees to donate their sick/vacation Days to other employees who may run out. This could be a game changer for employees of larger companies (smaller ones, too depending on your PTO programs!)
